The Indian and the Austrian teams signed a comprehensive migration and mobility partnership agreement which was described as most important by Mr. Schallenberg. He described India as the voice of ‘’peace and reason’’. And to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine he called for a dialogue.
As per the agreement, Austria will ensure an easy movement for students, scholars, and skilled workers of India while the government of India will undertake to take back the illegal immigrants for India.
He described India as a “buddy and an associate” that clings to “regulations-based totally global order”. Mr. Schallenberg indicated the crisis in Ukraine and stated the war in Ukraine is taking location simply 500 km from the Austrian capital. “We expect you,” he said highlighting India’s role in multilateral platforms.

This is of strategic importance for Austria, as per said by the minister. The remaining years witnessed an “exploding number of Indians” who arrived at the borders of Austria as unlawful immigrants, said the foreign Minister of Austria Alexander Schallenberg on January 2, 2023.
He specifically added that the problem is not with migration, but with illegal migration as it not only is inherently exploitative but also increases the vulnerability of the people. And also, information was provided by Jaishankar that India recently signed similar agreements with numerous countries like Germany, France, UK, Portugal, and Denmark. He also added that the number of Indian citizens who sought asylum in Austria.
They wanted to provide equal opportunities for Indians to demonstrate the contribution of their skills and talents. “Remaining year, we experienced the highest quantity ever of asylum seekers in Austria ever … over a hundred. Additionally, we had an exploding wide variety of Indians coming illegally through Serbia to Austria,” Schellenberg informed a press convention with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
