The Sharath Athrey Group is the only builder of airline hangers in the whole of South India. Since its establishment in 1990, the group has been awarded various prestigious awards, and as of date, the Group has completed more than 2000 projects and has over 25 joint ventures and is known for the services it provides. Our team interviewed Sharath, current MD of the Sharath Athrey Group, to know more about the work they do and what it takes to be one of the best in the industry. I’m doing well. How are you holding up?
I’m great too, thank you. Before everything, thank you for your time. Sharath Athrey Group is one of the leading in the construction business. Why don’t you tell us about the history and your journey at Sharath Athrey Group?
Thank you for having me. I look forward to this conversation and answering your questions. The company, which later turned into a big group, was started by my father, who is, by the way, the founder of Sharath Athrey Group, in 1990. The group has always worked on quality and continues to do so. The group that solely started as a construction firm today has a total of 12 companies under its banner. We insist on higher standards with upcoming technologies.
My journey at Sharath Athrey Group started when I was 26-years-old. I took over the responsibilities that my father was handling, and now it’s been quite a while since I am here.
That is great! Twelve companies, if I heard that right, what are those companies related to, and 26 is a young age to start, isn’t it? Were there struggles when you came on board? If yes, please share them with us.
It was, it was. In the initial days, I took time to understand how the company works and the factors that are considered before taking any project or making any decision, however big or small it is. This was one thing, and the other was meeting the standards and expectations and continuing my father’s legacy. The people in the company handling things are way more experienced than I was, and there were times of disagreements on topics, which was healthy, and I personally learnt a lot from them. But with time we grew and expanded. Today, as you asked, we have 12 companies, name a few like Sharath Athrey Ventures LLP, Sharath Athrey Industries Pvt. Ltd., Prismosis Ventures Pvt. Ltd. We also have a foundation, Sharath Athrey Foundation, that is constantly working on the betterment of the society. We have grown 10 times since I started, which is a great achievement.
Congratulations, Sharath, you have come a great long way! What are the services that the Group offers?
Our group offers the best quality services. We make sure that only the best is delivered to our clients. We provide everything related to construction, with expertise in building hangers for airlines, residential apartments, villas and commercial complexes. We also provide other services like water and waste management, solid waste management, fire execution, and chemical manufacturers. We also offer consultancy services related to the projects and constructions so that the premium quality of the material is used and output is unmatchable.
We have had clients like Indian Oil, IIT Dharwad, HAL, BCCI, Bosch, MS Dhoni School (Bangalore), the Mall of Mysore, Indigo Airlines, and Bill Forge etc. Our clients are very much satisfied by our services. We are a customer-centric company, focusing on customers rather than competitors.
Mr Sharath, this is the last question. We’re running out of time. So, my question is, what are your plans for the company expansion or something like this?
As a part of our expansion, we are venturing into E-Commerce, providing services pan India. We are also getting into Start-up EcoSystem and supporting the research related to the same. The Group has also invested in the field of Organic Farming. Let us see where it goes.
