Author Jaykay Heart’s third book entitled “The year of Paper Boats” has already created a space in the hearts of readers. In the recent interview Author Jaykay shares with us some interesting views around his writing journey. Have a look at what your favourite author shares about his journey as author.
Q. Can you share the initial spark that transformed this story from an idea to a full-length novel?
Ans. This observation led me to imagine a character whose life appeared ordinary on the surface but was riddled with internal conflict and hidden secrets. I envisioned a plot where a seemingly trivial event-a chance encounter or a cryptic message-sets off a chain reaction, forcing the protagonist to confront their darkest fears and the truth about themselves. I outlined key plot points and character arcs, allowing the initial idea to evolve into a structured framework. As I wrote, I found that the characters began to take on lives of their own, pushing me to explore their motivations and complexities further.
In essence, that initial spark was fueled by a blend of personal introspection, keen observations of human behavior, and a desire to delve into the psychological intricacies of fear and trust. This combination ignited a passion within me to fully develop the story into a novel, weaving together the threads of suspense and emotional depth into a cohesive and compelling narrative.

Q. How did the concept of this psychological thriller first emerge in your imagination?
Ans. I started with a simple scenario: a seemingly ordinary situation that spirals into chaos. Perhaps it began with a seemingly innocuous event, from there, I imagined how small, seemingly unrelated events could intertwine to create a web of intrigue. I envisioned characters who are deeply flawed yet relatable. Their motivations, fears, and insecurities became the driving force of the narrative. I wanted to explore isolation, both physical and emotional.
Q. How do you feel after getting so much appreciation from the readers?
I feel happy with a sense of contentment. However, I make sure I don’t get carried away because I clearly know my limits. The key is to focus on the process, rest of the things will fall in place, today, tomorrow or the day after. As we say, enjoying the journey is more important than worrying about reaching the final destination.
Q. One message that you would like to give to the writers?
Ans. I consider myself a beginner too. I’m a little hesitant to answer that question. Imagine, read, ponder over meanings, and always remember a good book is nothing but a delightful play of words. Be conscious when you write, for words are the fabric of existence, they give life a meaning to live!
