UK’s plant-based luxury accessory brand Marici is coming to high-end department stores Selfridges across the UK. The brand will launch an exclusive collection as part of the store’s Project Earth luxury designer edit. Marici uses Pinatex, a biodegradable fruit leather made of pineapple leaves, that does not rely on plastic or fossil fuel for its production.

The vegan friendly Pinatex material is created without using additional water, land, pesticides or fertilisers. It is then upcycled into a luxury material and turned into bags by Venice-based artisans.

“We hope to create an elevated luxury product that offers low environmental impact and high social responsibility. To offer a kinder alternative to Mother Earth whilst not compromising on aesthetics and quality,” Marici founder and designer Amanda Navaian said in a statement.

Marici’s collection at Selfridges will include Natasha soft oversized clutch, Queen Mother mini bag with snap closure and South Ken micro-bag with leather top handle in various colours.
