Journeys begin, not when you start walking, but with the first dream and desire to start. Here’s the journey of a woman who started walking when the path wasn’t clear yet, the clouds of haze were still there but she kept on walking because she knew her destination was waiting for her to reach there.
Fresh and energetic into the first year of her college, when Sahiba felt the need for financial independence , she started exploring options and although she landed into a job she knew this wasn’t what she was looking for. With her college classes in full swing, Sahiba was now looking for something part-time. Her tryst with anchoring was casual at first, conducting college events and plays, being on the stage, at the centre of it all excited her but little did she know that this was only a trailer of the journey that was calling her.
Sahiba started as an usher girl handling the registrations and other similar tasks at events and was happy doing it. But her talent was noticed during one of her college fests and she was approached by an event coordinator to anchor professionally. In her own words, she never knew anchoring was a possible career path. Still, the path was new and Sahiba was skeptical until one day she noticed the event anchor in her glory. Sahiba had her eyes only on the anchor while she wondered and matched her own skills with that of the professional on stage, mentally. It was then she decided to go for it and find her way through the new path.
With sheer determination, Sahiba began searching for that one opportunity that could introduce her to this glamourous world. But it wasn’t easy. She landed her first event through Facebook and even though the break wasn’t big and successful, she identified the gap that she needed to fill. Empowered with this awareness, Sahiba worked hard to learn the tricks and adapt the aesthetics of this game. Sahiba had just entered the new field but there was a lot about this dynamic industry that she was yet to learn. Multiple hits and trials, learning on the job, observing the nuances, grooming herself—she did it all to understand the know-hows of the industry. And just like it is true that when you are determined enough you become the designer of your destiny, things started to take a gradual turn towards the light for Sahiba.
It has been six years for Sahiba in this industry and she has conducted successful shows and events with top notch companies across the country. From sharing stage with Bollywood celebrities like Karishma Kapoor, Govinda, Monika Bedi, Sharman Joshi, Malaika Arora, Mandira Bedi, Sanjeeda Shaikh to notable personalities of the glamour industry like Gippy Grewal, Sonam Bajwa, Ashwarya Dewan, Husein Kuwajerwala, Sunil Grover, Ranvijay, Thakur Anoop singh, Jasleen matharu—Sahiba has shaked a leg with them all. Not only this, she has done live concerts with the honchos of the Indian Music Industry like Raftaar , Jassi Gill , Jassi Sidhu , Navraj Hans , Millind Gaba, Sachet Tandon, Parampara Thakur and Bhoomi Trivedi. Her popularity isn’t just limited to events as she has anchored for channels like Zee Hindustan and India News for Crime Files and Udaan ki Kaiyabi, respectively. And one can truly gauge the measure of their success when a special invitation as a Guest of Honour comes knocking on one’s door. Pinkishee organization which works for women empowerment exclusively invited Sahiba for their event and she has also been a part of the jury at the Mr & Mrs UP beauty pageant organised by Sai Events, Moradabad.
Sahiba started her journey as a young girl with an unclear path but her will to leave her mark in whatever she does brought her to her soul’s calling – the song which everyone can now hear when she stands on the stage and echos “Hello and welcome everyone, I am Sahiba, your anchor for the day.”
