Angan Mandal, popularly known by the name “Mere Angan Mein”, started his journey as a Bengali content creator in 2020. After his videos began getting viral, he received immense popularity very soon for his unique type of content. And that’s what has made him stand out.
In July 2020, he had a good fanbase on Tiktok, but after it got banned, he started his journey on Facebook and later, on Instagram, YouTube and other short video platforms. Now he is a popular Bengali Instagrammer, a ‘Born On Instagram’ recognized creator. Also, he is a verified and exclusive creator on Josh app, India’s number 1 short video making platform.
Angan, besides being a content creator, is also good in studies and has pursued MBBS from WBUHS. So, at the young age of 24, he has earned the title from his female fans of being a “Cute doctor” too. He is a certified diet and nutrition coach as well as a professional life coach. He is a fitness freak and goes to gym regularly. Angan had to put a lot of effort in studies as well, besides making videos for his pages. He has a very huge number of followers all over his social media.
Angan was born and brought up in Kolkata. After passing Class 12 from BDM International, a CBSE school, he took admission in Jadavpur University. But Chemistry was not what he wanted to study, so he dropped a year and cracked NEET UG in 2017. His parents were always supportive. When asked about his story behind entering medical college, he said, “My parents, and some of my relatives and teachers were very supportive. I was going through depression when I couldn’t crack NEET in my first attempt, but they always stood by me. Jethimoni, my immediate neighbour, was always inspiring me and encouraging me to become a doctor, and finally with all their blessings, I fulfilled their wish.”
Besides being a doctor and content creator, he is an author as well. He publishes on Amazon Kindle, his first work being “Walking through the streets of love: Romeo Returns.” Also, he occasionally pens down poems and short stories for magazines. In his school days, he was a junior journalist at The Times of India.
Regarding his journey of becoming a content creator, he said, “They say, ‘You are a doctor’, but I know I’m a content creator too. I had always believed in horoscope, and hence I knew that I was going to have dual profession. First, I thought that being an author was one of them, but somehow, I got inclined towards making short videos. The meme videos I create, collecting clips from different Bengali serials, web series or other videos, and editing them by adding my own clips, have gained me a lot of appreciation.”
In 2020, Angan started his Facebook page Mere Angan Mein, with the catchline of Bong Shorts- hok notun kichu. The page has grown a lot since its creation. Angan was recently nominated for Social Stars Award 2022 in the Blogger category. He was also seen promoting and collaborating with popular brands like Rapido app, Josh app, Bajaj FinServ, Balu herbals, ITC Sunbean beaten caffe, Coolberg nonalcoholic drinks and many more. Few days back, he also attended the premiere of the movie Ekannoborti.
