During the sweltering summer in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, debaters from across India gathered to address pressing issues and geopolitical topics aimed at the nation’s development. The Federation of World Youth Affairs, in partnership with Oriental University, hosted the esteemed Youth Parliament and Model United Nations conference on June 8th and 9th, 2024.
Mr. Sahil Babbar, a prominent debater from Delhi, was invited as an esteemed guest participant, along with various other debaters, to participate in the summit and deliberate on policy-making matters. The event was graced by the presence of renowned personalities from the city and was inaugurated at the JW Marriott in Indore a day before the main MUN and YP event.
The inauguration was followed by an extensive two-day debate featuring different committees with diverse agendas. A specially curated committee for guest invitees, known as “Committee X,” served as a platform for young minds to create their political parties and develop legislation and policies based on the model of good governance in the institutions.
Mr. Babbar captivated the audience as he addressed national issues and proposed effective solutions to challenging problems such as period poverty and youth representation in technology and IT sector development. He underscored the significant impact of the digital divide on the nation’s progress as he served various MPs in the House of People.
His highlighted initiatives and reforms, spanning national and state-level policy changes for adoption by governments and local administrations, left a lasting impression on the committee. Recognized for his contributions, he received the Best Representative and Most Prominent Speaker awards, becoming the first winner of Committee X and the FWYA Summit 2024, and was honored by the DCP of Indore City. He also got recognized by the organizers.
Sahil, one of the nation’s most renowned Youth advocates and debaters, will mark his eighth year in this field later this month. He has participated in over 195 events across various states and institutions. Prestigious institutions such as SRCC, Hansraj College, and IIT Roorkee have invited him to serve as an adjudicator for their events and have been their mentor.
At the Young Age of 19, he is associated with other changemakers and Non-Governmental Organizations, he has served in core teams of SKRM, Yuvak Foundation, and other bodies. He has also trained more than 13,500 students through the same platform in soft skills and vocational training. He has been providing free internships to budding minds.
