Whatsapp an instant messaging social media handle shows that it banned over 37 lakh Indian accounts which is more than banned in October. Under the rule 4(1)(d) of information technology rules 2021, it was said that due to this rule they banned it. According to this rule whatsapp banned those accounts which are spam, inappropriate or illegal.  The latest report shows that whatsapp banned more number of accounts than it did in October. Its abuse detection operates at 3 stages- at registration, during messaging and the response to negative treatment and responses which is received in the form of blocks and reports.

There is a periodic compliance report every month which compiles the details of complaints and actions taken regarding everything. And the wide variety of particular communication hyperlinks or parts of information that the middleman has eliminated or disabled access to in pursuance of any proactive monitoring conducted by way of the usage of computerized gear or another applicable records as may be special.”

Since it is known that social media spreads misinformation really fast and also sometimes it becomes a platform for fake information. This is one of the reasons for banning the whatsapp media handles. Whatsapp also deploys its tools and resources to prevent harmful behavior on the platform.

Some tough IT rules came into effect last year, made it mandatory to create a compliance report every month regarding the activity of the same or details of actions taken or complaints received.  And as a result they banned the accounts which was a number more than the accounts banned in October.

Drop a complaint to whatsapp support about any fishy or threatful or suspicious account details  through the mail to ‘’wa@support.whtsapp.com’’, and mention whatever issues or problems you are finding hard to tackle with. If not using  mail you can also report any whatsapp account  by going to Whatsapp chat >  tap more options >  more > report. Not only you can choose to report the account you can also choose to block the account.

The accounts which do not stay under the guidance or limits provided by the rules and regulatory acts gets blocked or reported easily. This also helps improve the regulatory functions and also help in the future to improve the effectiveness of the work.
